I'm Nia and I believe that

mama first is little first .

Nia Moran, MS, CCC-SLP, IBCLC

Mama and founder of Nursing Littles

As a mama of 3 boys under 5, an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), and an SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist) with a strong background in feeding/myofunctional therapy, I want to ensure you that I can be with you every step of the way throughout YOUR feeding journey, judgement free.

I have over 10 years experience working with children and young adults from birth through 21 in many different settings.  I love all age groups but my passion has always been in feeding, particularly with the younger littles.  I have spent A LOT of time developing and providing parent/family trainings across various topics with a strong focus on infant feeding.  In order to reach an even broader range of families with infants, and after needing so much support during my own struggles with breastfeeding as a first time mama, I decided to pursue an IBCLC license back in 2020 after becoming pregnant with my 2nd born.  Over the last 3.5 years, I have completed 95+ hours of lactation specific education/professional development and completed over 1,000 clinical hours working with numberous feeding dyads (mama and baby).  I am so proud and feel so privileged to be able to join the ranks in supporting mamas with this specific skill set and knowledge base.  Please, let me be your source of evidenced based (breast)feeding information/education as well as a place of comfort and support when YOU are feeling less than that 'mama glow' along your journey.

Do not let the name, Nursing Littles, deceive you.  Yes, I do place a lot of emphasis on breastfeeding as that was a large reason why I created this brand, BUT the word nursing not only means feeding from the breast, but the autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages (source: ICN).  To generalize, summarize and place my own spin on that definition; nursing is caring and to me, the act of being a parent and caring INCLUDES feeding your little in the capacity that works BEST for you BOTH.

Feeding is feeding and there is not a one way that trumps allIf you are feeding, you ARE nursing your little; AND if your little is eating, I am helping; (helping with nursing, pumping, bottle feeding, formula feeding, introducing solids, picky eating, sensory feeding, purees, baby led weaning, supplemental system feeding, oral motor issues ETC ETC ETC...)

A HAPPY and COMFORTABLE Mama

leads to a HAPPY and COMFORTABLE Little...AKA...

Mama first is little first .

This is my strongest belief.

I want to give back to other mamas and help them in the ways that I needed.  I want to use my feeding expertise and apply that to mothering.  I want to break down stigmas and old ways of thinking.  It is also important to note that I also understand 'liquid gold' is no longer priceless gold when the cost is your sanity. When the cost is that high, where can mamas feel comfortable enough to turn? HERE! These are the things that no one talks about, these are the topics left out of parenting and feeding and child care books...and I am here to lead those discussions with you, mama.  I am here to pass no judgement, only support and education.  I am here to be your village; please let me.

I aim to provide you with the latest research and bring you an un-biased and supportive, yet gentle approach to help YOU succeed.  Your goals are first and foremost.  I'll provide the information and tools so that you can make the most informed choices.  You are the mama, I am just the helper. I hope that you'll allow me to join your journey and show you that Nursing Littles is exactly what you never knew you needed, but the safe space you always wanted.  I am so happy that you are here.

All my best and happy feeding,

  Nia
